President’s Message

In recent weeks the newscasts and newspapers have been giving wide coverage to the earthquakes in Haiti, and the devastation, suffering and hunger left in the aftermath.  Our thoughts, prayers and hope go to those suffering survivors.

At the same time, let us all remember the responsibility we have assumed to feed the homeless and hungry in our own Collier County. There are even more hungry people than there were last year and all the years before. We must continue our efforts to feed the hungry where we live.

This is why Collier Harvest has you volunteers collecting and distributing food every day throughout our county. This is a problem we can directly impact upon, and we need to support both efforts. The job you continue to do is outstanding and most appreciated.

BOARD OF TRUSTEES ACTIONS:

Board member Bob Deeks has been elected Vice President filling my vacated post. Bob is also chairman of the postal carriers food drive this year. This national one day food drive will take place on Saturday May 8th. All our volunteers are invited (and urged) to participate.

Connie Preu has been elected to the board of trustees, and will be Administrative Assistant to the board's officers.

Ingrid parry has resigned as Executive Director after several years as the spearhead of Collier Harvest.  She has a new fulltime career, which places heavy demands on her time and talents.  Ingrid, our thanks to you for a job well done from all the members of Collier Harvest, and best wishes to you.

A special welcome back to our returning winter residents who step right up to resume their volunteer duties. It is great to have you back.

Dick Bourne

President

Fred not only donates his time and effort, but donates from his own possessions to individuals and families in need.

Fred’s spirit of giving truly comes from his heart, improving the quality of life for those who benefit from his work and for those with whom he works.

THANK YOU FRED!
