President's Message

...and the beat goes on.  As our Collier Harvest Volunteers continue to give of themselves every day to take food to those who feed the hungry of our county.  It is a charitable mission that so many of our needy rely on.  The hungry are in larger numbers this year than ever before, and so many depend on our daily deliveries.  There is great disappointment when the anticipated Collier Harvest delivery does not show up. We hope this happens very infrequently....but it does happen.

What to do when you find you cannot make your scheduled pickup?

                               1. Try to find a substitute.....(call a friend)

                               2. Call Carol Harris.....775-0443 or cell 280-6378

                               3. Call your Donor Coordinator......(name and # in your Newsletter schedule)

                               4. Call our administrator, Connie Preu......cell 572-4683

When a donation goes undelivered, it disappoints the donor, the recipient agency, and the hungry.

Going back north?     Please tell Carol Harris so she can schedule a substitute for the summer.  Maybe you can recommend someone to take your run while you are gone.  Travel safely, have a great summer and come back to us in the fall, and above all, remember we appreciate all you do for our hungry.

Postal Food Drive:  The Postal Letter Carriers will hold their one day food drive on Saturday, May 8th. On this day all residents are asked to put a bag of unopened, non-perishable food out by their mail box for the mail deliverer to pick up when they deliver the mail.  Collier Harvest then collects, sorts, packs stores or distributes over 200,000 pounds of food that one day.  We do need all the help we can get that day.

Above all, we thank each of you for making our mission "to feed the hungry" a reality

What we collect here stays here

Text Box: This month we offer our most sincere thanks to Ed Higgins who has served Collier Harvest for 18 YEARS. Ed’s spirit of service and generosity of time and energy set a goal for each of us to achieve.

Ed was our regular Immokalee driver and served in the soup kitchen at the Guadalupe Center. His caring and effort has enriched the lives of the many people he helped.

THANK YOU ED!
